HOW DO I CHOOSE A REAL ESTATE AGENT?

Seriously, there are so many of them!  His face is everywhere; that guy guarantees to sell my house; she has lots of signs around; my neighbour loved this new girl … what a dilemma!

It certainly is a dilemma for anyone!  And Realtors are a plenty!  We are here to entice you to choose us, of course, and we all basically do the same thing – we sell real estate and/or help you buy a home and/or do both!  We are all educated and trained to do all of that.  Some are more skilled than others, that’s for sure.  Some have been in business longer, which is not always an indication of skill.  Some advertise more, some less, some have huge teams, some have small teams, some choose to stay the course as individual agents.  And we Realtors all have an opinion on what we think of each of those options.  So the only way YOU can determine the best choice for YOU is to call us, make an appointment for a FREE no obligation Home Evaluation, and ask important questions.  That’s right --  you have to interview us.  And there’s nothing wrong with you asking 3 Realtors to your home and finding out exactly what they will do for you – how will they market your home – your largest financial investment.

You need to know what services are being provided, what is the level of care you can expect from us, what kind of advertising and marketing will we do for you and do we have valid testimonials and references available to show you.  Do we invest in YOUR listing and YOU or in self-promotion?  Here’s where commission rates become important as the return an agent will bring to you is more important, in the end, than the commission rate.  If the marketing, advertising, social media and overall exposure is not stellar, a lower commission rate is not helpful.

A buyer, on the other hand, does not pay any commission for the services a Realtor provides.  Regardless, a buyer needs to feel a Realtor will intensely and intelligently search for properties and, most importantly, know how well they will negotiate with sellers.  A good Buyer Agent is skilled in finding the perfect home in the right price range and ensuring the buyer gets into that house as quickly as possible.  Again, an interview is often easier done by asking an agent to show a property or two and getting a good feel for the level of knowledge and whether this person seems like a good fit for you. od fit matters!

Warm Regards,

Lynn Fee
